The landscape around Tiracol
Condé Nast Traveller turned its lens to Sindhudurg. What it found is the country we build in.
Condé Nast Traveller recently turned its lens towards Sindhudurg, and what stood out was not just its beaches, forts or rivers, but the character of the region itself.
From the ramparts of Sindhudurg Fort and the quiet waters of the Karli River, to centuries-old art forms, local cuisine, temples and villages, the piece captures a part of the Konkan that still feels deeply rooted in its own identity. It reflects something we have been seeing ourselves.
A slower, more considered way of life
The appeal of this region is simple: pristine coastlines, river valleys, extraordinary biodiversity, rich local culture and a slower, more considered way of life, while still being remarkably accessible from Manohar International Airport.
These experiences are not separate from the place. They are the place.
You can float quietly down the Karli River through its mangroves. You can go dolphin spotting, scuba diving, or simply walk along long stretches of quiet beach. You can explore the old Dutch Factory in Vengurla, discover the centuries-old Ganjifa art of Sawantwadi, or spend an afternoon with the region's distinctive Malvani cuisine.
What we love most is that these experiences are not separate from the place. They are the place.
This is the landscape surrounding Tiracol.
