Grateful to live this life in Goa

Air, quiet, space and the people you meet along the way: notes on living the dream.

Beautiful homes. Architecture, interior design, landscape, the choosing of materials. How can this be work? It is like pursuing a hobby and making a living from it.

Every journey has its challenges, but taken in the right spirit, as part of the process, they only add to the learning and the excitement. And along the way one meets such fine people: people who share the dream, who put others' interests before their own, and who cheer it on in their own ways.

What Goa gives

Good air. Quiet. Space. Health. Greenery. Design. And very little traffic or hassle.

How can this be work? It is like pursuing a hobby.

One morning, on our way to the office from our favourite coffee shop, my daughter spotted a dog wandering, clearly not a stray, clearly lost and frightened. She offered him our own dog's food, and once he had eaten he found the confidence to come with us to the office, where he drank a great deal of water and was soon playing with our pup. We shared his picture everywhere we could, and within three hours his family called. Minutes later they were at our door.

We said goodbye a little emotionally, having grown fond of him. Not much work got done that morning. But I felt very useful, and my daughter summed it up: what a beautiful day.

Living the dream. Grateful to live this life in Goa.
